Does prevent other cat stealing the food. Easy to operate. I bought steel trays as I don’t like plastic one. A bit slow to open and first it confused the cat, however month later she learned how to use it. The other cat gave up trying to steal.

Disclaimer – I own and love virtually every automatic cat feeder that Closer Pets have ever made. I usually have multiple cats but now only have one. All cat owners know the problems with cats not liking food – “is it the food” or “is it the bowl” or whatever. It has taken a month to get my (16 year old) cat to use this without hesitation but now that she does this bowl is perfect. Well worth the money although I could have got it cheaper if I had known that they were about to have a sale! My only concern is that CP don’t have an ice block available for it. They say that one will be coming but I can’t see where it would fit. I hope that I am wrong about that. A little tip to get the cat to use it – put some treats just inside the entrance but not in the bowl. That way they will get used to the mechanism working while associating it with food.

Bought 2 for cats with different needs. Paired both with their own chips, but both either fail to open or close whilst they’re eating if they do open. Still awaiting response from seller. Re set them, still don’t work. Very expensive if they don’t work. If they do not contact me in the next 24hrs, I will be returning.

We got this to stop our younger cat eating the older cat’s food and it works for that. My complaints are the bowl that comes with it is plastic and plastic bowls are not good for cats as they can cause acne or even kidney problems later in life. You can get stainless steel bowls which you insert on top of the plastic one, but they are over £25 for 2 which is a ridiculous price. We’d love to get another feeder for our other cat as at the moment he’s being fed in another room with a baby gate in front of the door our other cat can’t jump over, but he has wet and dry food and there isn’t currently a replacement bowl with 2 compartments. Otherwise, it’s a great piece of equipment that works well and it was easy to programme to our cat’s microchip.

To start I have to say that I like the look of this and it sits nicely in the place I always put the cats’ food.As someone else reviewed it is a bit slow to open but I’m hoping my cat will get used to that too. The only problem, if you can call it a problem, is the bowl is too deep for my cats comfort so I have rigged something to elevate the food until I can find a shallower dish. If it comes with a divider in the middle that will be even better!!

  6. Dawn Ridout

My cat eats specialised, expensive food because of a medical condition – he can’t eat anything else as it makes him really ill so I have to feed him separately. Also he has to eat a little and often as his stomach can’t cope with a big meal so he throws it back up! I’ve now started a new job which means I’m out more hours. Bought this feeder so he can graze all day long without my other 2 cats eating it too. He was a bit dubious the first 2 days and I had to keep encouraging him to approach it and take him to it. We are on our 5th day now and he approaches it like a pro! The other cats have stopped trying to muscle in because there’s just no room. So easy to set up – i’m a technophobe so if I can do it, anyone can! Well worth the money in my opinion. No regrets!

The principle of these feeders is great, the reality is not so great.Bought two for each of our cats. They are microchipped so don’t require the tags. However, one of the microchip tags provided came in brand new packaging and the other loose in the bag with labels etc. and I’m wondering if this has already been a return as one feeder is working okay when paired but the other is not. Will persevere to see if we can get it working but it’s just adding unnecessary confusion for our kitties. General observations:The cat has to put it’s head right in over the food tray and wait before the cover opens which is discouraging. The food trays and covers are flimsy plastic and, from reading other reviews, can’t be replaced.Certainly not worth the money.Had we not invested so much in these, I’d be looking for another type / brand / model. If the issues with the one that isn’t working well persists it’ll be returned leaving us with one which defeats the purpose of buying them in the first place.

I love the look of this feeder and it came really quickly. My cat is very used to automatic feeders but he is struggling a little with this one. It is not as sensitive in terms of reading his chip and for some reason the lid keeps closing on him when he eats. It is a deeper feed than others so he keeps pulling the food out onto the floor. Will persever but could end up not being able to use.

Keeps everyone in their own bowl
I bought this to replace a SureFlap feeder that never worked well. This one works reliably, does a great job of keeping each cat in his own bowl, and is easy to clean. I like the narrow design a lot: neither the bigger cat nor the dog are able to get around or over my smaller cat when he’s eating. Clean up is easy, too. Because there’s no mat for the cat to stand on, there are just fewer surfaces to clean than on the SureFlap (which gets SO dirty in just a week!), and because the bowl is deep, my messy eater isn’t able to fling wet food all over the feeder. My SureFlap had 5 separate pieces that needed to be cleaned; this only has 3. There is sometimes a lag with the buttons and with the feeder opening, but I’ve experienced that lag with the other brand, too. It closes quickly after the cat leaves, which is the most important part, and it doesn’t close on them WHILE they’re eating, which is a problem I had with my other feeder. My only real complaint is that the price point is pretty high. If you have the money, and you have household like mine with multiple pets, each of whom only wants to eat whatever someone else is eating, I do think it’s worth the cost—provided it holds up. I’ve had mine for 6 months now and I haven’t noticed any problems.

    A-1 Product
My cat use to eat my dogs food, and in doing so he would get sick. Now I’m using this for my dog and it works amazingly well. My dog got use to it in about a day or two he she’s been using it since then, my cat never got sick again.
